This glaze illustrates what overfiring can do, on occasion. A cone 6 blue glaze is used on a cone 9 crystal ramp fired vase. It gave these small grey crystals with a shiny finish and some crazing. The effect is similar to a style of crystal glazes known as matt crystalline, except for the non-matt finish, of course. Inside is a cone 6 iron rich glaze that gives small sparkling gold crystals in a dark brown field
