I am a retired computer programmer with a BS in physics. I have lived in Michigan, Iowa, N. Dakota, Virginia and Oklahoma before moving here to the outskirts of Santa Fe. I made mid-fire hand-built pottery and sold it at the OK Mozart Festival Art Shop in Bartlesville, OK. I throw high fire porcelain, mix and reformulate crystal glazes and fire them in my studio. I have been selling my pots privately at several different shows and am represented in a gallery in Madrid, NM. Crystal glazes are never the same twice because they are true crystals that grow inside the glaze during the cooling cycle. SBS Pottery is a family operation. My daughter and husband assist me in several aspects of the glaze creation and firing. I have been taking courses at the Santa Fe Community College clay department. This is a great little clay venue and in appreciation I have decided to go for the Certificate in Ceramics. The state of NM has decided that merely studying is not good enough, they are pressing hard to get more degrees. So I am taking a drawing course this semester.
